    Some of you may have heard about the naughty firemen in Sacramento.  In case you missed this "smoldering controversy", earlier this month, seven Sacramento firemen attended an event called the "Porn Star Ball" at a local Raddison Hotel.  The idea was for guests to dress up as porn stars (whatever that means) and mingle with adult performers.  Don't ask me who the porn stars in attendance were, but 1800 people went to this party.


    Apparently, six of the firemen (from Station #20) were on duty (in full uniform) and the seventh was not.  According to the Sacramento Bee, an investigation has determined that three fire department vehicles, including an engine and ambulance were indeed away from the station for two hours that night.  Some of the firefighters were alleged to be posing for pictures by the trucks (presumable with scantily clad women).  One woman in attendance alleged an on duty fireman sexually assaulted her in the parking lot in a "grass fire rig".  However, the Sacramento District Attorney's office subsequently decided there was not enough evidence to prosecute. 


    Now, in response to public outrage, the City Manager has not created an internal affairs unit for the Fire Department and Julius Cherry, the Fire Department Chief has fired two of the fireman and suspended three others.  It appears that the Porn Star Ball incident is just the tip of the iceberg.  The Bee reports that the investigation found that "firefighters from several stations routinely cruised bars and dance clubs, drank on duty and picked up women and gave them rides on fire vehicles." 


    The Sacramento Fire Department website is strangely silent on these issues.

    P.S. -- For the record, the "Porn Star Ball" is not a big industry event.  I never even heard of it until news of this scandal broke.  I think this may have been the first one.

  • i'm not using "settling" in terms of "getting married and starting a family," im using it in the sense that people give up on finding on true love and just "settle" for someone they get along with, but dont necessarily LOVE...and not caving into obligation has to do with not getting married just because you feel like its your time of life to get married...too often, nowadays, people think they must get married before a certain time or else they're goin to live an abnormal life...nothing is wrong with waiting for something real

  • Haha ... nixiegirl.  The problem here is these fireman are attracted to the wrong kind of heat!  "Records show Engine 20 was out of position when a medical call came in, leaving only an ambulance to respond to that call."  Attending the "Porn Ball" caused them to neglect their official duties.
