  • It's Election Day ... remember to VOTE!  If you support porn and other civil liberties, you know who you have to vote for!  (Hint - it's not George W.!)

    Sign of the Times?

America continues to put her fingerprints on the world in surprising ways.  This week Hooters opened it's very first restaurant in China.  It's located in a mall complex in Shanghai.

American food chains have proven popular in China.  KFC has over 1000 stores and McDonalds has roughly half that.  However, it's a bold step to go from the family friendly "Happy Meals" to a restaurant chain best known for cold beer and chicken wings, served by scantily clad waitresses with big breasts in tight tank tops.  Even in the USA, Hooters has been controversial almost everywhere and the subject of sex discrimination investigations.  Traditionally, China has been very conservative in the realm of sexuality.  Revealing outfits and public displays of affection have long been taboo.

"Zhang Yanping is not what you would call a big girl, but with her leggy, slender frame shown off by a small white vest bearing the legend Delightfully Tacky But Unrefined, high-cut orange shorts, sneakers and white sox, she is doing her best to be a Hooters Girl."

The director of operations, Cameron Jiang, says the Shanghai Hooters has gone for friendliness rather than any particular physical build, which could be a problem in a country where women tend to be less busty than those in Western countries. "It's different, but Chinese girls have their own beauty," Jiang said."  According to Jiang, eight more Hooters in China are planned if this one is a success.

Hooters exported Julie Paolini, "a statuesque young woman from North Carolina" to train the Chinese Hooters girls cheerleader style routines.  According to Paolini the Chinese employees are "so eager to learn."  For their efforts, the Chinese Hooters girls earn $1.36 an hour.

What do you Xanga people think?  Sign of the times or a serious miscalculation on the part of Hooters management?  I understand they have their sights on India next.

"I have long dreamed of being freed from the shackles of repression and getting to wear skimpy orange shorts and a teeny tiny white shirt while serving chicken wings to drunken men," said Xiang Xing, who stood in line for 46 hours to apply."

  • "I have long dreamed of being freed from the shackles of repression and getting to wear skimpy orange shorts and a teeny tiny white shirt while serving chicken wings to drunken men,"

Why does this sound sarcastic to me?

Capitalism and the joy it brings.....

  • Hi. Found you from the Erotic.Inc Blogring and having looked through your entries, just wanted to congratulate you on a well put together, informative and varied site.

    Thanks.

  • LOL Little Piggie ... YES, that last one is satire.  The website it came from (deadbrain.com) contains satire, spoof and parody humor of current events.

    Thanks BullyBeef and Goobie!

  • Did China really need a Hooters resturant? I'm not even sure if some of the cities in the States need Hooters returants. They seem to breed that "macho sport-loving meathead" image. But anyway.

  • a hooters in shanghai?  interesting.  however, i highly doubt the restaurant chain'll profit much in a country where prostitution is prevalent and getting serviced by a "working girl" is relatively inexpensive.  if the girls are getting paid $1.36/hr, i wonder how much the trainer is getting for her work....

yep i'm back .  i totally agree with your comment.  and now with both a republican senate and house of reps, it'll be much easier for bush to do his damage--scary.

  • I wanted to comment on your previous entry about anal sex. In the real world anal is much more about the man than it is about the woman. I know very few women who have tried it and much less enjoy it. And these are healthy, sexual women who are even wild in bed. For me personally, it's something I'd be willing to TRY only with my husband and I call all the shots. I agree that porn is about visual and therefore if it looks good it turns on the viewer and therefore it's erotic. However, the problem with that is that men get so turned on by it and then they get the idea that if their woman isn't as psyched about doing it as the chick in the flick, then she's uptight or rejecting him. The line between fantasy and reality gets blurred. So to me, that's the biggest problem with anal, the fact that in porn it's so glorified that it raises the bar for normal women. Most real, down to earth women are NOT anxious to do it and if a guy can't tell the diff between reality and porn, then he has a problem.

  • 46 hrs in line to apply??? wowsers! hooters in china... and india next? and they're excited about $1.36 an hour??? globalization at its worst!

  • btw, i wouldnt be surprised if some of these hooters transform into brothels with an american corporate stamp to legitmize it! again, globalization at its worst!
